About Spruce Goose

You could say the original Spruce Goose was a flight of fancy, a big, bold idea but probably not the most practical. But what we really love about our namesake is the fearless spirit, the attitude that we do things because we can. And so the Spruce Goose was born – a place where you sit back, relax and dream big with great food and a fine beverage in hand.

Established December 2013 SPRUCE GOOSE in Lyall Bay is truly a special place. The Spruce started life at Wellington airport as the original NAC domestic terminal and then became the home of the Wellington Aero Club for over 50 years.

Situated at the gateway to Wellington Airport which of course for those plane spotters it’s a premium spot to view the runway, along with the most amazing water views there’s no better place to sit and gaze than at SPRUCE GOOSE.

The simple things in life are often the best, so we thought why complicate things? If we could find a great place and add in the essential ingredients for a good time, like top class fare, a fine selection of beverages and impeccable service, we knew we could create something special.

Thus the Spruce Goose was born. You’ll find us on Moa Point Road overlooking the waters of Lyall Bay. We’re open from 7am till late, so whether you’re after a quick morning coffee, a late night knees-up or anything in between simply swing on in to the Spruce Goose.
